Ownership

Jack Jones Racing welcomes anyone that is interested in learning more about our sport and there are lots of ways of getting involved.

Owning racehorses; whether it be an outright horse or a percentage of a horse as shares, does not have to be expensive. We have a selection of partnerships and syndicates already existing, many of which have space to accommodate more members, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

With technology readily available, we offer regular updates to owners and syndicates in the form of videos and photographs. We actively encourage owners to visit the yard whenever they can to see their horse and experience a morning on the gallops.

Please see the below the range of ownership options that are open to anyone looking to be involved in a horse here at Jack Jones Racing.

Sole Ownership

Sole ownership is where one person owns the horse outright.

It is down to the owner to cover everything involved with the cost of the horses keep and training fees, a sole owner must be registered as an owner with Weatherbys. As a sole owner that gives the right to name the horse (providing it is unnamed) and your horse will run in your own personalised colours, which again need to be registered with Weatherbys.

All final training and race day decisions will be made between the owner and trainer, and all prize money will go to the sole owner of the horse.

Partnerships

A fun way for family and friends to experience the benefits of racehorse ownership and race day thrills whilst being able to split the costs amongst each other.

Racing partnerships are available for everyone who are registered owners with Wetherbys.

Partnerships are available for up to 20 individuals all of which are required to be registered owners, which comes at a small fee. It is a fun way of getting likeminded people together to enjoy the experience without having to worry too directly about the bills.

Syndicates

Syndicates have become hugely popular in the last 10 years, they are made up of 20 plus people and the group is headed up by a syndicate manager.

Large syndicates allow members to become involved at a fraction of the cost of outright ownership. This method, like partnerships is a fantastic way for people to meet other syndicate members who share the same love for the animal and are racing nuts!

A lot of syndicates will have brand names which they trade under and will have allocated racing syndicate managers who have a duty to relay information about the horse and race day plans to the syndicate. Mangers of the syndicate have the final say in movements and plans for the horse and will often charge a small managerial fee that is built into the cost of a share.

Leasing

Leasing is a unique way of owning a racehorse without the initial outlay of breeding or purchasing the animal.

A lot of very well-known stud farms and bloodstock agents are open to the idea of leasing horses as it gives them as owners the ability to improve the pedigree of their existing stock without paying for the horses keep and training fees.

Leasing gives people the thrill and enjoyment of owning a racehorse during its racing career which includes exclusive contact with that horse, prize money and the excitement of watching the horse in your personal set of silks.
