Chestnut Tree Stables are perfectly located towards the top of Hamilton Road with excellent access to both “Racecourse” and “Bury” side gallops.

Chestnut Tree Stables were first built by The Jockey Club in 1968 on then predominantly undeveloped Hamilton Road, making it the first of many on this side of town. Legendary trainer of the great Frankel, Sir Henry Cecil, was it’s first occupant and trained back-to-back Guineas winners such as Wollow and Bolkonski, before moving to Warren Place.

The stables have been under the ownership of landlord and neighbouring trainer Rae Guest since 1998. The stables here have a good reputation for being very well aired and healthy and have yielded great success in its history. The yards facilities include a 6 horse walker, spacious stables, infra-red heat lamps, a grazing area and a lunge pit.

📍Location

As well as being on the door step of we are only a 15 minute walk from “Bury Side” gallops, crucial for the horses conditioning work on gallops such as Warren hill and Long hill. The large majority of our “fast work” will be done on the grass gallops parallel to the Rowley Mile racecourse; the peat moss, summer and watered.

Also, having access to the artificial gallop on the Cambridge allows us to work horses when weather does not allow us to use the grass.  Jack has first-hand experience of both sides of town following his spells assisting firstly David Simcock, and more recently Richard Spencer.
