Newmarket Heath

Newmarket training grounds are owned and run by Jockey Club Estates and covers a vast expanse of almost 3,000 acres.

The training grounds house a huge area of gallops with over 50 miles worth of grass gallops and nearly 14 miles of artificial gallops. No one strip of grass gallop is used for more than one day in the year. The Jockey Club ground team work tirelessly to ensure fresh strips of turf are available for trainers as soon as they need it. Likewise, tractor drivers are on hand to freshly harrow all - weather gallops up to ten times a morning. The gallops here in Newmarket are open for seven days a week all of the year round and represent brilliant value for money.

Newmarket Racecourse

Newmarket Racecourses are situated in close proximity to the town and training grounds.

The racecourse complex is actually home to two of the most prestigious courses in the country, the Rowley Mile Course and the July Course.

Newmarket is often considered the headquarters of British flat racing and hosts two out of five of the country’s classic races, amongst a huge list of top tier Group 1 races.

Racing commences at the Rowley Mile in early April at the Craven Meeting, switching to the July Course for the duration of June, July and August then back to the Rowley Mile for high quality racing during the Autumn.

The Guineas Festival, featuring the first two Classics of the season, the 2,000 Guineas and the 1,000 Guineas, takes place on the Rowley Mile on the first weekend in May each year.

Newmarket hosts two great heritage sites which are popular with visitors which are the National Horse Racing Museum and The National Stud, both of which provide a huge insight into the history of horse racing.

Newmarket trainers have great access to world class equine vets and farriers right on their doorstep.
